History of Jones Chapel AME Church

139 Years

In the past, people joined Jones Chapel Church after they had attended services for a while.  They became friends and then were drawn into a commitment.  Several became active in the classes or sang in the choir before they were baptized and joined the church.  New members often came to faith in Christ through the Sunday School Classes.

Presently, Jones Chapel is a small group who experience spiritual benefits.  This small group realizes that we are accountable for living up to Christian Standards.

Jones Chapel Church is undergoing the process of empowering the members to become “Lay Pastors”  Their coming together is more than a social get together.  There is a sharing because of the something special that we have in common.  Because The Spirit of Christ is within us, we pray together  and are open unto GOD.

Our Goals

  • To be controlled by The Holy Spirit. Knowing what to say, how to say it, knowing what to do and when to do it.

  • To become dependent on GOD, listening to one another, fitting together, and building up one another.

  • To strengthen existing members through instruction, intimacy and inspiration.

  • Not to weight down ourselves with drunkenness and the anxieties of life.

  • To share the Good News of GOD with others.

  • To watch constantly for The Lord’s return and build on the right foundation.

  • To be what Christ wants us to be!
